A change to tomorrow's bill. Martin Evans has moved to Shetland, which is going to some lengths not to be around. Stepping in: Tim Sque. Deadpan one-liners from Dorset. "Sublime," according to Phil Nichol, and he'd know. Everything else exactly as billed. Doors 6.30pm, first act 8pm.

Family Fun Day. Wokingham Saviour, Saturday 1 August. Free entry, no tickets.

The day starts at noon. Gaming van and face painting from 12pm to 6pm. Superhero and princess party, 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Swing Gitan UK on live jazz and swing, 3pm to 6pm. Then DJ Paul James Brown takes it to close, 7pm to 10pm.

Hawkstone at the bar, with temporary tattoos to match — farm animals and Lambo tractor, for the kids and the grown-ups who'll claim they're for the kids. Food from Bombay Story, Grilko, Hamlet and Knead.

Come for an hour or stay for the day. Peach Place, from noon.

Tonight. England vs Argentina, 8pm — their first World Cup meeting since 2002.
Somewhere out there is a pub where you'll watch the second half through a stranger's shoulder blades. This isn't it. A seat, a screen you can actually see, and a Hawkstone kept like this. English, as it happens.
Order in from Knead and eat at your table while you watch.
Doors long before kick-off. Come early enough to sit down.

Two Hawkstone Centurion plaques came home from Farm Fest this weekend — one for The Northcote Saviour, one for The Wokingham Saviour. Tim and Kim collected them after a proper welcome from Jeremy Clarkson in the VIP tent. We're one of 100 venues recognised this year for stocking Hawkstone properly, and we're proud of it. Swipe for Kim, Tim and Rebecca meeting the Lambo. Backing British farming, on the bar and in the glass.
