STATEMENT: Those that regularly attend our live band nights at The Velvet Club will know that we have lost our current venue. We have 2 remaining dates there later in the year but we are having to source an alternative to make our permanent home.
The Velvet Club fronts the live band events for our club, Jive Central. The members have come up with a couple of venue's that we will be trialling in April and May. They will then take a vote to decide which they feel works best for the club and it's attendees.
We will be using popular local bands for this trail who know us and are able to adapt accordingly.
It may be that our club decides to look for a further venue but we won't know until we have completed this exercise and will of course keep you all informed.
The loss of venue has been a hard blow. We had gone above and beyond to ensure that we didn't upset anyone, given that the hall is situated in a residental area but sadly we appear to have failed.
It's troubling times when some many club's are closing down and great loss to live music, not just for the dancers but for the band members too.
As a club we are proud of our Rock 'n' Roll club. Mainly Jive and the sound of the 50's but with the odd modern day spin at times.
We feel we have the balance right and so important to ensure we appeal to people and bring them to the scene and therefore keeping it alive.
We had to release all our band bookings whilst in a time of uncertainty as we didn't want to block their dairies without a secured venue but pleased to say that we have a some dates secured until February 2027 and once the trail dates have established our new venue we can then continue with future dates.
We would like thank all the bands that have been very understanding with our situation, it's been greatly appreciated and huge thanks to our attendees who appreciate live music and what we as a club are doing for the scene!

Rockin'em! They certainly did! A truly fabulous, entertaining evening and the guys certainly know how to put on a performance! Our crowd loved their energy, their talent, their showmanship and we loved their interaction with the dancers! A very memorable evening and great feedback!
Well done Rockin'em you were a hit with our club!

Another fabulous live band night The Velvet Club.... The Top Cats!
Dance floor was busy all night and such a awesome atmosphere! Thank you to all that joined us for the evening and your continued support. It's appreciated by the club and the bands!
Terence looked after us with his carefully selected tracks at the front of the evening, during the interval and end, thank you always Terry!
Huge thanks goes to our set up team once again who pull together to create a beautiful venue for the evening, Julie, Phil, Julie, Alan & Ann.
Phil, the lighting was the best yet and loving the new purchases, well done! Let's hope Monday goes in the Club's favour and we can continue to add more!
Jason Alison Hardy joined us for the evening, all the way from Bradford. Friends with many members of the club since lockdown and soooo good to have them with us!
