If you’re already part of the 50s Rock n Roll jive scene, then you know that dancing is only part of what it’s about.

It’s just as much about friendship, fun, laughter, enjoying good music together, socialising, getting some exercise and going back to a bygone era that provides a bit of escapism from all that is going on in the world today.

It doesn’t matter if you are a novice or an experienced dancer, it’s about how dancing, socialising and enjoying good music together makes us feel.

You can take the first step towards becoming part of the 50s Rock n Roll jive scene by joining our 5 week beginners Jive course in Whitton.

When: Tuesdays 8pm – 9:30pm, starting on Tuesday 11th November.

Where: Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, Twickenham TW2 6JL

Course Fee: Only £50 per person for the course of 5 x 90 minute lessons.

Suitability: This course is suitable for complete beginners or anyone who has a little jive experience who would like a refresher.

Couples or singles can attend, but places are limited and must be pre-booked as we need to balance the number of “leads” and “follows”.

Last weekend, I went to High Wycombe to visit the Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea Room. Wow! what an experience that was! This is so much more than Tea Room! It is a living history museum! Sadly it will be closing on a farewell party on the 26th July as the proprietor Steve will have to find a new venue. So if you can, do have the opportunity for a visit before it closes. A lovely Saturday afternoon at 1940s Tea Dance Hartfield VE Day 80th Anniversary! Congratulations to Janneke Saebo for organising with great detail a tremendous tea party with such a variety of entertainment and delicious homemade cakes for the locals and the dancers that came over from the South Coast. Great music from Dave and Carol from Eight Beat Jive and Rick as the MP made sure that everyone kept well behaved and under control.

I had a lovely afternoon having fun with all the groups at Younger People with Dementia from Surrey and Berkshire providing them with the dance entertainment today. I also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, thank you very much! I look forward to seeing Berkshire West again next week! 😘x
