Today we attended a webinar hosted by our friends at Field Ready. The theme for today's discussion was "Equality in the Workplace", in celebration of Woman's History Month and International Women's Day.

Some key takeaways from the webinar;

- It is not enough for women or minority groups to just be represented. They must also be given an equal role, equal opportunities and an equal voice. The problem cannot fully be solved simply by just hiring more women. Ongoing support from all levels of the organisation is needed to promote lasting change.

- Female mentorship is really effective in inspiring confidence in young women who are just starting their careers.

- Gender bias is often a product of culture so, we have to unlearn the negative biases and inspire confidence in young women to fulfil their potential.

According to our survey of over 5,000 African professionals, we found that some of the challenges facing Africa’s employers according to African talent are;

- Communicating a clear vision for the future
- Ensuring that employees understand the decisions that leaders
make
- Taking a genuine and sincere interest in the wellbeing and overall
experience of their employees
- Supporting the development of future leaders
