Today we attended a webinar hosted by our friends at Field Ready. The theme for today's discussion was "Equality in the Workplace", in celebration of Woman's History Month and International Women's Day.
Some key takeaways from the webinar;
- It is not enough for women or minority groups to just be represented. They must also be given an equal role, equal opportunities and an equal voice. The problem cannot fully be solved simply by just hiring more women. Ongoing support from all levels of the organisation is needed to promote lasting change.
- Female mentorship is really effective in inspiring confidence in young women who are just starting their careers.
- Gender bias is often a product of culture so, we have to unlearn the negative biases and inspire confidence in young women to fulfil their potential.
Field Ready is an employability platform which offers programmes, learning experiences and resources that help people achieve successful careers. They also help their Alliance of employers to develop and access a highly effective workforce.
