After a little lockdown-break we are finally returning with our monthly Headcast series.

Issue 27 comes from Hamburg hero Kluen Tah. Head of ZEMENT records and responsible for releases on labels like Public System Recordings, Mechatronica, FUTURE ME RECORDS and many more. In his productions as well as his mixtapes, you can always recognise his love for heavily distorted drums, a kind of one-take-roughness and last but not least, a passion for the bounciness of Hip-Hop, which we highly admire. Attributes which also come to life in his duo FALLBEIL which he is forming together with Wosto. If you ever had the possibility to see those guys playing one of their hardware-only improvised livesets across Europe, you know what we are talking about.

The mix he delivers for us reflects an open-minded mixtape-approach: a crossover between some synthetic disco vibes, bouncing breakbeats, some electro-bretterz and overdriven 808 romance. Enjoy!

Headcast No. 26 is delivered from Wroclaw, Poland by our good friend DJ Duch.
Also known as DJ Ryan R, we already invited him as a guest at Fusion-Festival’s Seebühne in 2019, when we curated parts of the music programme. As DJ Duch he discovers and explores the little-known and hard to come by music of the 1990s from countries of the Eastern Bloc - check out his below listed releases!
This mix is a brief introduction to the sound of 1990s Eastern European club music. A very refreshing - and most probably impossible-to-find - selection of Deep House, Electro, Breakbeat, and Technoish gems, most of them from Poland, Russia as well as Yugoslavia. DJ Duch describes his enthusiasm for this distinctive music from a unique period of cultural, social and not at least economical transformations as following: „The thing that makes this music unique and interesting in my opinion is the mixture of lack of skills and experiences (many artists in Eastern Europe knew club music just from radio stations and had never been in „proper” club) with great motivation and hope to make it big in the West (which in most cases sadly didn’t happen). After many years of oppressive regime (also concerning art and culture) eastern part of Europe witnessed true explosion of creativity - wild, sincere and with high hopes.“

Tonight on 9pm the next Headcast will be premiered via Hallo: Radio. Headcast No. 26 is delivered by our good friend DJ Duch from Wroclaw, Poland. A very interesting selection of (with one exception) Deep House, Electro, Breakbeat, and Technoish gems only from 1990s Eastern Europe. These 60 minutes capture a unique sound from a unique period of musical development within Europe. Headcast 25 sees the light and comes from Malte Magnum. The mix, full of breaks and electro jewels, was crafted in the Central German Metropolitan Region, more specifically in Halle - or was it in Leipzig?
We got to know Malte hanging at a lake shore in Lithuania during a little rave camp where we enjoyed having one or another secco. Without fulfilling the diverse high-level agreements we made in Lithuania, we met again at another cosmic gathering in Chemnitz where we renewed our ambition to arrange something for the future. A party exchange on a North-East axis was the plan, but as Covid is still keeping us busy, we are happy about Malte's Headcast delivery.. for now! What's not, can still be or not?

Do not miss to also check his multiple mixes and appearance as 1/2 of 808 POPPING RANGERS. You will notice that there is definitely a good taste of music around.
If you are lucky (unlike us) to have snatched a ticket for this year pandemic-friendly Tarmac Festival 2020, which Malte and his crew ORGIA are co-running, better do not miss him!

We got to know about Beinwell when some of us were sitting at Chez Malik in St. Georg. There was a DJ we never had seen before who played lots of our favorite New Wave gems. Couple of drinks later that night we bundled with that sympathic guy - couple of months later he delivers Headcast no 24.
Before he recently moved to Hamburg, he shaped his style in Munich - influenced by Other Criteria, he played at places like Rote Sonne, Komitee or Import Export.
You should absolutely check out his appearance on the debut V/A of Munich-based Label Alternative Fakten where he delivers a fresh, percussive track, somewhere between EBM and Dark Disco. (https://alternativefakten089.bandcamp.com/)
The mix he has recorded for us seems pretty much to reflect the musical approach he puts in his productions as well. While the tracks partly pass into a groovy, sometimes atmospheric, sometimes rather melodic feeling, the whole selection never looses its very punchy, drum-orientated character. This one lets you bounce it at home.
