This video shows one of the most unique traditions in the world, known as Ma’nene, practiced by the Toraja people in Indonesia.
In this ritual, families bring out the bodies of their deceased loved ones after some time, gently clean them, and dress them in fresh clothes.
What makes it even more unusual is how they treat them as if they are still alive—placing glasses on them, putting ci******es in their mouths, and even surrounding them with their favorite belongings.
The reason these bodies remain preserved is because they are traditionally mummified before burial and kept in cool, rocky tombs.
For the Toraja people, this is not a moment of grief, but a form of celebration and respect.
They believe death is not the end, but simply a transformation into another form of existence.
