A heartbreaking video from Western Australia has touched people around the world. A mother dolphin named Fraggle was seen carrying her dead two-week-old calf through the Indian Ocean for six days. The footage was captured by Australian conservation group Geographe Marine Research using a drone. Researchers said this was not the first loss for Fraggle, as she had already lost four calves before this one.
The video also showed other dolphins staying close to Fraggle during her journey, appearing to support her while she mourned. Scientists have seen similar behavior in dolphins and whales before, with mothers carrying their dead calves for days after they die. They believe it is part of a grieving process before the mother finally lets go and returns to feeding.
The emotional video quickly went viral, with many people saying it proved animals also feel deep love, loss, and grief.
Many praised the pod for staying beside Fraggle during her difficult time.
